Quality Engineer - Recent Grad

Quality Engineer — Contract (6 Months) 📍 Markham, ON | 4 Days/Week On-Site | New Grad Welcome We're looking for a motivated recent graduate to join our client's team on an initial 6-month contract as a Quality Assurance / Automation Engineer. You'll work alongside experienced developers and QA professionals, gaining hands-on experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks using Java and Selenium. Strong performance may lead to a contract extension or full-time opportunity. What You'll Do • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Java and Selenium WebDriver • Execute automated and manual testing for web-based applications • Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing across environments • Collaborate with developers and product managers to define test strategies and acceptance criteria • Identify, document, and track defects through to resolution • Test and validate REST APIs using tools such as Postman or REST Assured • Contribute automated tests to CI/CD pipelines and build workflows • Support QA best practices, automation standards, and test documentation What We're Looking For • Recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field • Academic, internship, co-op, or personal project experience with Java development • Hands-on experience or coursework using Selenium WebDriver for test automation • Understanding of software testing concepts, including functional, regression, and end-to-end testing • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and API testing fundamentals • Exposure to test frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG, and Selenium • Experience using source control tools such as Git • Able to commute to Markham, ON 4 days per week Nice to Have • Experience building automation frameworks with Java, Selenium, TestNG, or JUnit • Exposure to REST Assured, Postman, or API automation testing • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI • Understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies • Exposure to performance testing tools such as JMeter
