You may qualify for your desired series and grade level if you meet the following qualification requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualification EL-15: Applicants must have 52 weeks (one-year) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level as described below. Experience: I qualify for the EL/GS-15 because I have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the EL/GS-14 or equivalent demonstrating work experience with the statements described below. Examples of specialized experience include: Working with one or more business units at a major housing financial institution (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, US FinTech, Federal Home Loan Banks, or similar), including extensive experience with complex risk-return trade-offs within such business units and an understanding of management concepts, policies, and procedures as applied to the prudent operations of financial institutions. Working with capital and secondary mortgage markets. Preparing analyses of complex, novel, and unique policy matters related to the regulated entities. Planning, scoping, and administering projects of significant complexity and diversity pertaining to the entities regulated by FHFA (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, US FinTech, Federal Home Loan Banks) or other large and complex housing finance institutions. In addition to meeting the above minimum qualification requirements, applicants must also meet one of the following basic requirements for this position: BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be eligible for the 1160 series, you must meet one of the following requirements: Basic Entry Requirement for a Financial Analyst (1160): A. Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, engineering, mathematics, banking and credit, law, real estate operations, statistics, or other fields related to the position, such as agriculture, agricultural economics, farm, livestock or ranch management, or rural sociology. -OR- B. Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience such as performing financial analysis and evaluation work requiring a comprehensive knowledge of (1) corporate finance and any specialized fields of finance required such as public finance, securities, international finance, money and securities markets, investments, and banking, and (2) the financial and management structure, operations, and practices of corporate and other organizations. **Failure to provide your transcripts, when required, for any of the options above will remove you from the hiring process** Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
