Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: Current Federal Employee: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining an accurate status of all emergency response equipment and personnel to assure prompt and accurate response; assuring personnel assigned to the shift carry out work assignments in accordance with instructions; and providing emergency police, fire and medical services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls ensuring emergency service personnel respond with appropriate personnel and equipment and give pre-arrival instructions to callers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Or External Applicants: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in an Emergency Services Communications Center that includes providing technical guidance and direction to Public Service Dispatchers to ensure all emergency operations are executed professionally to effectively bring an emergency under control with dispatching fire, police and emergency medical services under highly stressful, time-sensitive and emergency conditions using the local authority's emergency medical dispatch system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
