Description

This is a remote position.

We are seeking a highly specialized Life Science Linguist to provide high-quality translation, revision, and editing services for technical, medical, and regulatory documents. As a 1099 contractor, you will work independently on a project-by-project basis to ensure that complex scientific content is accurately rendered into the target language while maintaining strict compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translation: Convert complex life science documents (e.g., clinical trial protocols, ICFs, dossiers, and medical device manuals) from English (USA) to French (France) with 100% technical accuracy.

  • Review & Revision: Conduct bilingual reviews of translated materials against the source text to ensure no omissions, mistranslations, or terminology errors.

  • Editing & Proofreading: Refine the style, flow, and grammar of target-language content to ensure it is culturally appropriate and meets the "native-level" quality expected for publication or regulatory submission.

  • Terminology Management: Maintain and update client-specific glossaries and translation memories to ensure consistency across large-scale projects.

  • QA Compliance: Adhere to ISO 17100 and ISO 13485 standards for linguistic quality and risk management.

Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Advanced degree (MA, MS, PhD, or MD) in a Life Science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, etc.) or a degree in Translation with significant field experience.

  • Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in life science translation/editing.

  • Linguistic Skill: Native-level fluency in the target language and professional-level mastery of the source language.

  • Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience with CAT Tools (e.g., SDL Trados, memoQ, Memsource).

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Proven ability to handle high-stakes regulatory content, such as EMA/FDA filings or MedDRA/EDQM terminology.

Benefits

If you feel you meet these criteria, please apply using the form below, stating your rates for translation and your language combinations and enclosing a full CV detailing your qualifications and experience. Please note that you will be required to supply samples of recent translation work and/or take a short translation test piece. Agencies wishing to offer their services would need to provide CVs of their translators and details of their company quality assurance procedures, along with rates for translation.

Please note that if you are unable to meet the requirements above or unable to supply the required information, it will regrettably not be possible to consider your application.
