Deghost defines a "ghost job" conservatively: a listing must show multiple programmatic signals (vague description, no salary, reposted frequently, stale for 30+ days) to be flagged. This means our detection rate is lower than industry surveys, which count any unfilled listing.
Industry studies use a broader definition — any job that doesn't result in a hire within 6 months. By that measure, the rate is 27–30%. Our approach focuses on signals: does this listing show patterns of being actively filled? This makes our data more actionable for job seekers.
