About Deghost

We're building a more transparent job market — one where job seekers can trust that the positions they apply to are real.

Our Mission

Ghost jobs — listings that show signs of not being actively filled — waste millions of hours of job seekers' time every year. Studies show that up to 40% of companies admit to posting listings they had no immediate intention to fill, and BLS data shows 30% of openings never result in a hire. Deghost exists to fix that.

The Problem

The online job market is broken. Companies post listings to appear like they're growing, to collect resumes for the future, or simply because they forgot to take them down. Job seekers spend hours crafting applications for positions that were never real. There's no way to tell a genuine opportunity from a ghost listing — until now.

How We Tackle It

Aggregate listings from 18 job sources across 8 countries, every 12 hours

Score each listing against 10 verification signals including company reputation, Glassdoor data, and posting behavior

Detect ghost job patterns: stale listings, vague descriptions, agency spam, and known red flags

Cross-verify positions that appear on multiple sources for higher confidence

Surface verified jobs first and flag suspicious ones so you can decide

Our Sources

We pull listings from Adzuna, JSearch, Jooble, The Muse, Remotive, Hacker News, GitHub, JobBank Canada, RemoteOK, Arbeitnow, USAJobs, Himalayas, Gupy, Vagas.com, Programathor, Catho, InfoJobs, and GeekHunter — covering tech, healthcare, finance, engineering, education, and more.

Transparency First

Every job on Deghost shows its verification score, the signals that contributed to it, and whether it was flagged as a potential ghost listing. We don't hide data — we give you the tools to make informed decisions about where to spend your time.

Built by

Deghost was created by Douglas Pires, a software engineer who kept hearing from friends and colleagues struggling with the ghost job epidemic. Seeing people waste hours applying to listings that were never real, he decided to build a tool to help job seekers focus on genuine opportunities and help companies fill real positions.
